St. Anne’s 2012 Cinco de Mayo Benefit
Cinco de Mayo was first celebrated in the Mexican town of Puebla, where a small Mexican force won their freedom by defeating a French army double its size. Since that battle, no European army has invaded America, giving U.S. party-goers a reason to celebrate too!More than 150 years later, with the St. Anne’s Benefit falling on May 5, we could not resist making Cinco de Mayo our own excuse to party.

Clear your calendar and plan to celebrate – fiesta style – with your St. Anne’s friends for a night of food, fun and fundraising. The St. Anne’s gym will be transformed into a high-style fiesta with Mariachis, dinner, dancing, a live auction and silent bidding on classroom projects.
For two weeks prior to the big fiesta, you will have the opportunity to bid on fabulous items, excursions and soirees all online through Bidding For Good. The silent auction is open to the St. Anne’s community only, but you are welcome to share the link with family and friends who may be interested in supporting the school. The auction goes live at 10:00 a.m. on April 18th and will end at 10:00 p.m. on May 2nd.
Want to help us throw the party of the year? There are so many sombreros to wear in the effort to make this a fiesta fantástica!
- If you have something special to donate to the online or live auction:
Please contact Andrea Stevens at aestevens1@me.com, or submit the 2012 Benefit Donation Form to the Auction Box in Kris Buckley’s office.
Great ideas include a margarita maker, a filled piñata, autographed sports apparel, tickets, great getaways and more! Or use Cinco de Mayo celebrations from around the world to inspire you. There’s Cinco de Mayo skydiving in Canada, a Mexican beer-drinking contest in Malta, and an air guitar competition every May 5 in the Cayman Islands. We welcome all donations and ideas! - If you like to throw a party:
Host a soirée to raise funds for St. Anne’s. Soirées were new to the Benefit two years ago, and we’re excited to bring them back. You coordinate the event by picking the theme, date and number of attendees. Then people in the community can purchase a ticket to attend. Soirées from 2010 included a casino night for close to 100 people, an intimate wine tasting dinner for eight, and a family-friendly ice skating party at The Denver Country Club. There will be a “Buy Now” opportunity in the online auction, so the buzz starts early on these exciting get-togethers. - If you want to be part of the action:
We welcome you to join the enthusiastic community members who have already signed up to make the 2012 Cinco de Mayo Benefit an event to remember. Interested volunteers can stop by our next meeting (listed in each week’s FYI) or email our Cinco de Mayo Benefit Chairs Lynn Kitt (lbluce@comcast.net) and Brooke Simpson (brookesimpson@comcast.net).
