DIVERSITY STATEMENT

Adopted by the Board of Trustees on September 20, 2001

St. Anne's is committed to a school community honoring socioeconomic, ethnic, and religious diversity. The Sisters began their work on this campus with physically challenged children. Since then, there has been a clear recognition that children from varied backgrounds and with differing abilities deserve a setting and an educational program which provide the structure, challenge, and nurture necesary to allow them to thrive in society. That legacy continues today.

Children, families, and faculty from diverse cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles clearly enrich the lives of one another on our campus, and St. Anne's continues to value and appreciate these contributions, talents, and varied perspectives. Without these, our educational program, our community, and our children's experiences would be incomplete. The school provides an environment that begins to prepare its students for a multicultural world through the work of the Diversity Committee, a clear admissions philosophy, and formal and informal curricular initiatives. Knowing, accepting, and appreciating the differences among people will lead to the realization that individuals share many similarities as they maintain their own unique characters.
