Community Outreach Programs
The St. Anne's mission statement includes a goal of "fostering a shared purpose of social responsibility and involvement" among students. The Outreach Committee of the Parents' Association tries to further that goal by organizing schoolwide efforts to share with others who do not enjoy the same level of privilege. Outreach will include a variety of events that both students and families can enjoy, and that do not always involve money. The activities for this school year are listed below. FYI and flyers will provide details about the various efforts and how the recipient organizations will use the school's contributions. In addition, the committee will provide information through FYI about other outreach opportunities for individual families.
In October we will Trick or Treat for UNICEF, participating in a program called "School in a Box" that buys supplies to start community schools. After Halloween, we will collect excess candy for the Hospice of Metro Denver and the Porter Hospice. If children contribute part of their Halloween haul, this may be a more meaningful act of giving than usual.
At Christmas, Outreach will provide information on how your family can adopt formerly homeless families through the Sacred Heart House.
A blood drive will be conducted in January. Although massive amounts of blood were donated after September 11, blood does not last, so the national shortage has reappeared.
In February, we will collect used eyeglasses for two orphanages in Honduras supported by the Episcopal Church.

G.L.O.V.E.© (Giving Love on Valentine’s Eve)
Please join us in bringing a little love into the lives of those less fortunate than us.
For the next two weeks we will be collecting unused travel-size toiletries. This includes but is not limited to: shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, q-tips, bath gels, bath bubbles, deodorant, brushes, combs and perfume.
We will be packing up all these necessities into small zip lock bags adding simple store bought Valentines and heart candies for the children.
We will be giving our offerings to The Gathering Place, a Women’s and Children’s Shelter. If you would like to contribute please drop toiletries off in the bins marked “G.L.O.V.E”, at school.)
Thank You for your support.

- PEN AND PENCIL DRIVE Feb. 10-14: The Outreach Committee is looking for donations of new pens and pencils (regular and colored pencils) for the Hogar del Nino (translation: Children’s Home) in the Dominican Republic. Karen Corsi, Julie Savage and their families will be traveling to the school on Feb 18th and will take the donated items with them. They have been involved with the school for several years and go there annually to bring aid and provide support. A donation bin will be located next to the school store from Mon., Feb 10 through Thurs., Feb 14th. For more information on the school and how you can help, go to http://www.hogardelnino.com/.
- The St. Anne's Annual Bonfils Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28th from 8:00am-1:30pm in Comfort Hall. Please call Kris Buckley at 303-756-9481 to reserve a time to donate.
After Easter, we will again collect excess candy for the hospices. They save the special bunnies and eggs for children participating in grief counseling.
At the end of the year, the St. Anne's Summer Stroll will return. In 2002, the beneficiary of the Stroll was the Nancy O'Donnell Memorial Fund, established by the school to honor the memory of a middle school teacher who died of cancer in January. Almost as important as the fundraising is the opportunity for everyone to enjoy a low-key stroll along the Highline Canal and a lovely ending to the school year.
Once or twice during the year, you will be able to make use of all those children's magazines collecting in corners of your home by donating them to Children's Hospital.
We've even thought of a way for you to be less aggravated when your children lose articles of clothing. Once a month, as posted in the FYI, we collect unlabeled items from lost-and-found bins to donate to CANA (Caring Association for Native Americans). CANA also receives many other donations at the Parents' Association room in the Chapel Building.
