Communication from the Head of School

December 2, 2008

Dear St. Anne’s Families:

I am writing briefly today with some updated and revised information regarding school operations, memorial services, and gatherings for the Lofgren family. Please note the changes in times and locations from my earlier communications.

Memorial Services:

The families of Caroline Feuerbach Lofgren, Parker Lofgren, Sophie Lofgren and Owen Lofgren announce that funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 5, 2008 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2626 E. 7th Avenue Parkway, Denver, CO 80206.

Community Gathering:

Additionally, a gathering will be held at the St. Anne’s Episcopal gym on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for family, friends, relatives and St. Anne's community members only. No Press Please. This is a change in location and time from what was originally distributed by the family.

School Closure on Friday, December 5, 2008:

Please be reminded that in order to allow interested students, parents, faculty and staff to attend the Lofgren funeral services on Friday, we will not have regular school on that day. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our families. Regular school hours will resume the following Monday, December 8, 2008.

Extended Day Services Friday, December 5, 2008

We will offer Extended Day services at our normal rates on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for those families in need. It would be very helpful from an adequate staffing perspective, however, if families who think they will utilize these services could e-mail Extended Day Director Char Brady at cbrady@st-annes.org. Please indicate the times you anticipate utilizing the service on Friday so we can plan accordingly. Thank you.

Parent Support Sessions:

Please note that we will be offering some optional parent support groups this week for any interested parents. We will have a number of professional counselors present to share insights and guidance, answer questions, and be of support. A session for LS parents will be held on Wednesday, December 3 beginning at 8:15 a.m., and a session for MS parents will be held on Thursday, December 4 also beginning at 8:15 a.m. Both sessions will be held in the chapel.

Our day together at school was a first step toward healing. There will be many more steps along the way, some easier and some harder. Children and adults are holding hands together as we go down this path and doing so here and with each other is such a comfort. What a place we share where children and adults can mutually hold and support each other as we process our varied and different feelings and reactions. The routines also help. We will continue our love and care for each member of this community, in whatever manner they need, and we remain here to help.

Sincerely,

Alan Smiley
