Fine Arts

St. Anne’s middle school strives to challenge students with an academically rigorous program while keeping a steady eye on the development of the whole child.

ART

Art classes allow students to create jewelry, clay figures, and elaborate plaster molds, along with pieces using many other medias.  Student artwork is visible from nearly any angle throughout the middle school building, and the school in general.  The work of two featured student artists is added to this permanent collection each year and an annual Cultural Arts Faire displays each student’s work during a week-long celebration of the arts.

DRAMA

Drama classes afford the study of improvisation, physical theater, and vocal stage presence.  The Drama department puts on three productions during the year, which are presented to the entire school audience and a nighttime parent audience.   Every m iddle school student has a role in one production.  Productions highlight the vocal, kinesthetic and theatrical talents of every student, and the sets and props are often created by students themselves.

MUSIC

The middle school music program builds on both vocal and instrumental development.  Students learn notation, how to sing on pitch, and how to play an instrument.  Each student performs with an ensemble at one point during the year.  Music performances are held regularly during middle school assemblies and all-school assemblies.  These performances provide a wonderful showcase for students to display their ability and progress.  The middle school jazz band performs at the Denver Metro State Jazz festival, while vocal ensembles perform at various events around school and in the community.
