Rose Kelly

Celebration of her life

August 2, 2010

Dear St. Anne’s Community Members:

As you know from my previous communications, our dear friend Rose Kelly sadly passed away over the weekend on Saturday, July 31, 2010, surrounded by her family and closest friends. Please visit our website at www.st-annes.org and look for the Rose Kelly link if you missed the previous message.

As I endeavored to express there, it is virtually impossible to put into words all that Rose meant to our school family and the many people whose lives she touched. She was simply beloved. Because  St. Anne’s was such a central part of Rose’s life for so many years, the family has decided that they would like to hold a celebration of her life in the Sunken Garden on the St. Anne’s campus  this Saturday, August 7, 2010. The service will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will likely last approximately one hour.

Parking around campus will be even more difficult than normal for this celebration of Rose’s life, both because of the large number of expected attendees and because of road construction on Amherst bordering the school. I will be sending, via e-mail and posting on the website, more details on alternative parking locations in the next day or two when we have proper approval, so please check there for more information. Regardless, I recommend that you plan now to carpool as much as possible and expect to walk for a few blocks. Please also be mindful of the driveways of our neighbors and areas posted as No Parking. Given that Rose was my “right hand woman” on parking protocol, this is one small way you can also honor her. Parking information for Rose Kelly's Services

The family will be posting an obituary for Rose in the paper tomorrow or Wednesday. In addition, they have established an endowed Rose Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Anne’s Episcopal School. Contributions to this fund will be held within the school’s Endowment Fund, and interest generated by these resources will be contributed to the school’s financial aid program to assist qualified students to attend St. Anne’s who might not otherwise be able to afford to do so. This was an area and cause of special interest and passion for Rose at our school. The family requests that interested parties consider making a tax-deductible contribution to this fund in Rose’s honor in place of flowers or other gestures. Those wishing to do so can make checks payable to St. Anne’s Episcopal School and write “Rose Kelly Memorial Fund” on the memo line. This fund will exist in perpetuity and serve as a lasting legacy to Rose and her dedication to our special community.

I hope you will be able to join us for this special gathering to honor a truly remarkable woman. Please continue to visit the website regularly this week for more information and details. If you simply cannot attend due to other complications, please also take comfort that Rose would surely understand. Family, friendships, special moments, and enjoying life’s relationships were always her mantra. We can all honor her the most by carrying that spirit and example forward. Please keep Rob, Georgia, Lucy and the rest of Rose’s family in your thoughts and prayers, reach out to those who need a shoulder to lean on, and let us know if we can be of any help. Rose’s life will show us all the way, as it has for quite some time.

Sincerely,
