Our program helps students build the values and virtues that foster positive relationships, responsible decision-making, leadership, and personal growth. Through meaningful learning experiences, students are encouraged to practice good character every day at school, at home, and within the community.

Throughout the school year, our community explores the school's founding values of community, curiosity, faith, compassion, and humility, with each value serving as the focus for a two-month period. As students study each value, they also learn the virtues that support it.

Character Education

Character Education classes in the lower school are taught by assistant teachers once each month throughout the school year. During these lessons, students engage in age-appropriate discussions, interactive activities, and personal reflection that encourage them to live out the values and virtues in their daily lives. In the Middle School, Character Education is embedded within a rotating schedule that includes Religion and Social-Emotional Learning. Sixth graders focus on ethics, seventh graders on social justice, and eighth graders on leadership.

Students explore and learn about the monthly values and virtues through Character Education classes, chapel, school assemblies, Character Power, and in Buddy Time.

Character Power

Character Power is a program taught once a month led by dedicated parent/caregiver volunteers for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Character Power provides students with additional opportunities to deepen their understanding of the school's founding values and virtues.

Character Power lessons include engaging activities, meaningful discussions, and real-life applications that help students connect the monthly value and virtue to their everyday lives. Lessons are coordinated by the school chaplain to ensure they align with the school's Character Education program.

Buddy Program

The Buddy Time is a cherished St. Anne's tradition that fosters meaningful relationships across grade levels. Older students serve as mentors and role models for younger students, helping to build a strong sense of community throughout the school. Buddies meet once each month to participate in activities centered on the school's current value and virtue. Through shared experiences, service opportunities, and collaborative activities, students develop friendships while practicing leadership, kindness, empathy, and responsibility.

Cyclone Citizen

Each month, Lower School students have the opportunity to be recognized as a Cyclone Citizen for exemplifying the school's current value and the virtues that support it. Every homeroom teacher selects one student who has demonstrated outstanding character through their words and actions.

Cyclone Citizen Awards are presented during an all-school assembly, where students are celebrated for being positive role models within our school community. Families are notified in advance if their child has been selected and are warmly invited to attend the assembly to celebrate this special recognition
